BORON

For the last three years, Venture High School Students have been traveling down to Boron, Ca to help the First Baptist Church of Boron run their week of VBS. This trip is routinely one of student’s favorite trips of their high school career, and is a great way for younger high school students to try a missions trip.

When: June 10-15
Cost: $300
Details: Students will be sleeping on-site at the First Baptist Church of Boron. A little fun fact is that Charles actually worked at Boron for 4 years, and actually has lived at FBC for a few summers while he was going to Bible College in Lancaster, CA. During the evenings, students will help with all the various VBS responsibilities (coaching students, preparing crafts and snacks, helping to run games, songs, and skits). During the days, students will have time as a group for morning chapels, and some days they’ll have an outing in the area for fun (water park, swimming pools, shopping, etc). All transportation will be provided by adult leaders.

TRIP PROJECT & SCHEDULE

First Baptist Church of Boron is an amazing church with a long history. Established in 1938, the church has been sharing the gospel in Boron for 82 years. In 2005-2010 Charles worked at First Baptist leading the Youth Ministry in his first full-time pastoral role. He fell in love with the church and community, and loves the chance to come back and help run VBS.

Students will be helping to run First Baptist’s VBS program, and in years past, there have also been other small projects (passing out food in the community, or helping with projects around the church) that students have helped with as well.

VBS will be in the evening Monday - Friday. First Baptist has asked for us to help with: Leading the music, & setting up and cleaning up - everybody will do these jobs. Besides that though, We'll split into teams to help with:

  • Drama (2 People)

  • Student Leaders - hanging out with students (8 people)

  • Games (2 people)

We are only taking down a dozen students this year. Brooke Irby, Casey Duty, and Kent Lundy will be driving minivans for the trip.

PACKING LIST

  • Clothes for the week - It's going to be hot. Pack appropriate clothes for helping out. Shorts and T- shirts are fine, but keep everything modest.

Bedding & Mattress - We'll be sleeping on the floor, so plan accordingly. There will also be limited floor space, so large (i.e. queen) air mattresses aren't recommended.

Towel & Toiletries - We’ll be showering at the high school showers. Ladies will have individual stalls, but the guys will have a group shower. Bring extra undies or a bathing suit to shower in.

Bathing suit - we’ll be swimming at the high school pool, and taking a trip to Drytown waterpark in Palmdale.

    Bible & Pen

  • Medications - Any meds will need to be given to a leader for the trip
